Villanova Special Olympics

Special Olympics at Villanova University is an organization that seeks to promote and actively practice the inclusion of all individuals and support athletes who participate with Special Olympics Pennsylvania. The goal of the organization is to create inclusive and equitable spaces for athletes, students and volunteers to interact and form meaningful relationships. On campus, Villanova Special Olympics hosts an event called Fall Festival each November. This event is the largest student run Special Olympics event in the world where over 1,200 athletes, 400 coaches and 5,000 volunteers come together for a weekend of competition, celebration and inclusive interactions. Typically, Fall Fest includes soccer, bocce, volleyball, powerlifting, roller skating and long distance running/walking competitions on campus. It is an opportunity for the Villanova community to engage with athletes and for athletes to showcase their athletic achievements. Throughout the Spring and Fall leading up to this event, the Special Olympics organization hosts and participates in various other events including Unified activities, fundraisers, athlete practices and educational initiatives. All of these activities are aimed at supporting the inclusion revolution and promoting equitable relationships among all individuals.
